When in "AUTO" mode the EB "IS" working and will be just as aggressive as in "FULL" mode when it needs to be. It is working all the time.
In auto mode, the EB does not come on when I let off the accelerator which I do like since I generally coast when I can which conserves fuel. I generally use the EB to hold a certain speed(which is what auto mode was made for per the owners manual) rather than slow me down(which is what full mode was made for per the owners manual). Although I have used full mode to slow me down a few times. I generally don't like full mode always on when driving or towing because it slows me down too much which makes me loose my momentum and I have to waste more fuel to get it back.
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I will say that one of my favorite features of the EB in auto mode is when the truck knows the speed when you let off the accelerator last and it will automatically kick in the EB to not go above that speed. I did not know it had the feature and it surprised me going down a hill once. I let off the accelerator at 60 mph going and I did not have it on cruise control. My speed went to 62 mph going down the hill and I was about to apply the brakes when the EB kicked in to slow me back down to 60 mph. It automatically applied full or partial EB (depending on what I needed) as I was going down the hill to keep me at that speed without me doing a thing. I knew it did that with the cruise control on, but now with it off.
