I think you may be assuming that we are in a campground. That would not be correct. This is a 900 acre parcel of private land. The nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away.
My twins are 8 years old. They have both been taught firearm safety. They both are reminded about firearms safety constantly. They both love to shoot.
The "batons" you refer to are called spey rods. Educate yourself before you make assumptions. They are not likely to be used as a lethal weapon against anything but a fish. But then in the last 16 years of fishing steelhead I have only killed 2 fish, so maybe not.
I am sorry for you that my picture was so upsetting. I am perfectly happy with my photo as it includes five of the things my family and I love the most camping, fishing, knives, guns and the river.
The terms "8 years old" and "firearm safety" don't seem to go well together in the same sentence. Just one man's opinion, but you may be fooling yourself. I don't get the picture. Was the gun out and lying around? Or did you take it from a secure place in order to get it in the picture. I find it odd either way.
