Knowing exactly what model you're looking at might help with some personal experiences from others. In our case, we bought Forest River Rockwood units, the first being a HTT and our recent change to a TT. Both came from RVWholesalers in Lakeview, OH. On both, we were better than 30% off MSRP. RVDirect is a similar dealer and they carry Jayco and, I believe, also some FR units among others. You might look at both websites and if you see something that looks like what you're after - both sell several brands and you can see a lot just looking at the floorplans and photos. Prices are not posted but they will email you a price quote. And it really is the price - no games. RVW does list the MSRP and you can guestimate what the ballpark price may be. Our TT had an MSRP over $31,000 and we paid $20,000 and some change. Since you're going to need the WDH/sway, you need to figure around $500+ for the more popular brands. Don't let them toss in Brand X....ask for some members true usage results and the brands. Our ROO had an Equalizer and was great, except for being noisy and DH ended up a bit greasy from time to time. RVW recommended the Blue Ox 1000 this time. DH did some online work and decided to go with that and he's very pleased....quiet and clean. RVW would have ordered the Equalizer if we had decided that was the one he wanted again. If you happen to find the model you're looking at, print out all the info and you can take it to the local dealer and use that in negotiating. You'll likely hear that no local dealer will service something purchased from either RVW or RVD - not true, so just disregard that threat. If you consider either of these dealers, you will either need to plan a trip to pick up at their facility, which we did both times and strongly suggest, or they can arrange delivery to your door and will give you a price for that. Picking up at their location is far better as you get a PDI and if you have any questions or problems, you're at the right place. The delivery driver does only one thing - deliver. If you have questions, you'll not have a tech right there to work through.
Good luck in this shopping process. It is stressful, emotions can mess with your good sense, and you want to make the best choice you can. Hang in there and do lots of online homework. We've all been newbies and there is likely no question you could ask that hasn't been asked before.
