I'm always puzzled by these posts that say "Am I getting a good deal?"
Figure out what you want to pay, either $XXX or MSRP - X%, then offer that for the trailer you want. If you want to be a negotiator, offer something less than your buying price and be willing to go up a bit.
If you can't find a trailer that they will sell you for your offer, then just walk away.
With regard to new or used, presumably the price you're willing to pay for a used unit will be considerably less than what you'd pay for a new unit. There's a sweet spot (really, it's the market) where the buyer's needs will match the seller's needs and that market can actually be much broader for some gently used units than for either new or used up units.
My personal preference (since they were always my trailers) was to buy new. If I couldn't get the new trailer I wanted for the price I was willing to pay, I walked away. No law says that one must RV.
