Flagstaff V-Lite....

I have searched the forums here and really haven't found any remarks or comments about this line. DW and I are looking at the 30WFKSS. Have only seen it on line but not in person yet. It is supposed to be at the Chicago show next month. Does anyone have anything to say about the V-Lite line??

Thanks,
Mark

l just sent you a PM.
  • We have a 30wrltsa. Not sure that us the correct model designation. It is a front
  • We looked at the V-Lite when we were shopping. We liked the front kitchen, but, it was short on external storage and the V nose created an issue with our WD hitch.
  • We have a 2012 V-Light 30WFKSS and we like it very much. My wife loves the front kitchen, biggest reason for buying this trailer. She likes not having everyone in her way while she is cooking. Ours has the free standing table so getting to the refrigerator with the slide in is no problem. I like having the recliner/rockers and if necessary we just rearrange them for movie watching or TV, the recliner/rockers were my favorite. We like the space of the walk through bathroom, my wife refuses to have a trailer with the small bathroom. We also like how much room there is in the rear bedroom. We have one daughter and she sleeps on the sofa bed.
I made a battery tray on the tongue right behind the jack for two 6 volt batteries, have had no problems with clearance while turning and backing. There is a second grey tank for the kitchen, the dump valve is under the living room slide-out. We have never came close to filling that tank even on a week long trip, but you would have to crawl under the slide to get to it. Like paw-paw said outside storage is limited. We only have the one under the bed in the bedroom slide-out. I only put light stuff in there.
This trailer is much better build than our old trailer. It tows very well, although I have a 1-ton, dually, diesel, that is probably overkill, but its paid for. I do get a little better fuel mileage, but this trailer is lighter than our old trailer. I wouldn't expect too much difference in mileage between the V-light and a similar sized traditional trailer.
  • We have also been looking at the 832IKBS. I (and the DW) like the lay out of that model too. The prices I have seen in my area have been a bit high though (higher than I expected to pay for a TT) in Wisc listing at $40000. Unfortunately, this may not be an easy decision, although our 1st choice (all based on what we have seen on line to this point) is the V-lite, the DW has a list of 15 or so. The only thing I'm holding out for at this point is a TT with a larger black tank than we have now (26 gal). Thanks for the info on the V-lite.
  • I purchased my Flagstaff from ExploreUSA Mesquite TX in Nov 2013.

We looked at the V-Lite 30WFKSS several times.

The walk thru bath was a no-go as far as the wife was concerned - which settled that.

The kitchen looks very small and cramped when the front rock shields are down over the windows. Need to open them up to let light into the space. It is quite good for one person to work in - a bit crowded for two. Some folks like that closed kitchen to keep traffic out of their way.

FR should have gone with a lighter color wood for the kitchen IMHO. There is a vent over the kitchen which will let in some light.

The bedroom closet/ drawers is the same one as in our trailer. Very nice and a good bit of room. There are two drawers about 21 x 23 inches by 8 inches deep under the foot of the bed, and six wardrobe drawers are 13 x 11 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches deep. The wardrobe is a little over four feet wide and has a hanging space about four feet tall.

You will not be able to get to the kitchen with the slide closed. You will have to crawl over the counter to load the fridge - but at least it will open where I must move the slide out to open the door.

The two recliners are nice - but poorly positioned to see the TV. If I had bought that unit - I would have moved the couch to the curb side and the recliners to the slide.

Outside accessible storage is a bit limited. The area under the head of the bed will be about the same as mine - 51 w x 48 l x 18 h - with a 34x12 access door.

If you get the floorplan with a built-in dinette rather than a table and chairs, you will have an other outside storage area.

The propane tanks are accessed from the doors on the front. There is only room for one battery on the tip of the tongue A-frame.

I've seen several people with them in this area. Talked to some and everyone seems to be quite happy with theirs.

We have the Diamond Package on ours - with 50 Amp service and a second ducted AC installed - something essential in my experience for us down in Texas.

    I even like the color.

The listed dry weight for your model is 6,950 lbs - mine had a sticker weight of almost 200 lbs over the brochure dry weight, and after dealer addons like propane tanks, battery, spare tire - it weighed an additional 450 lbs when I took it to the CAT scale right after driving off the dealer lot.

So expect a configured weight of very near 7,600-7,700 lbs before adding any personal gear and equipment.

That model has two grey water tanks - so likely there will be a second discharge connector/ outlet for the kitchen grey water tank located under the forward slide. Make sure you find it when at the RV show.
