They normally leave for open water earlier but with the late spring they are hanging around the inlets and rivers. If your into tourist trap stuff I think New Smyrna beach is better than Daytona. You can drive on the beach there as well. Not sure about taking your camper though. Anyway, it's a few hours north from where you are but consider yourself welcome.
