- SprinklerManExplorerThat thing on the rear of the trailer is a sewer hose carrier . Not a bumper
- TravelingTeacheExplorerDitto on the bumper not being strong enough. Hubby had to remove and reconfigure a shelf he put on ours to hold a box of gear and eventually a generator. Lasted about one week into the trip, then into the truck bed it went!
- hddeckerExplorerX 5 on the usual trailer bumper is not strong enough. They are there just to look pretty.
I have seen bike racks that have caused the bumper to fail, due to stress fractures. - Mike_LAExplorer

I am looking for a bumper mounted cargo / tire carrier for my travel trailer. I have seen them on a few trailers but cannot find a supplier for the carrier itself. Any ideas?
Racks on this page. - Dakota98ExplorerYou make a good point & anyone considering these add on's should first check the stability of the 4" bumper tube before mounting anything to it. I imagine some campers with this type of bumper are not suitable for mounting, as you indicated, being that they are made of light weight materials. My bumper is heavy gauge steel reinforced & is welded to the rear frame rails of the trailer.
- opnspacesNavigator IIDakota, you might want to reconsider that receiver tube clamped to the rear bumper. more often than not the rear bumpers are just folded sheet metal that can barely support themselves. If you are going to run a carrier I would look into having the receiver attached to the trailer frame rather than the bumper.
- Dakota98ExplorerI just mounted a tire carrier to my rear bumper (square tube) made by Ultra-Fab. You can get them through Amazon as I did for about $38. Mine is a fold down style, as I have a rear cargo compartment door. There is Also a"fixed" version for a few dollars less. Ultra-Fab also makes a receiver tube that mounts to your square bumper for mounting a cargo carrier, I did that also, it is offset from center just a little to accommodate the tire carrier. It will run you about $38, either on Amazon once again or Ebay. My cargo carrier was purchased from Harbor Freight . I purchased a ATV carrier since it's design allowed for the cargo carrier & tire carrier to both be mounted at the same time without any modifications.

Looks like a good product and reasonably priced. 60 lbs capacity is the limiting factor. - CaveRunExplorerI just ordered one from eTrailer.com.

I'm having my bike rack mount (2 in receiver)attach to the bumper with a reinforcement welded from it to the frame.
