I bought a Solid Fold about three years ago. It is not watertight, some water still gets in. The part I really don't like is it's kind of difficult to fold up. I'm 5'9" and the bedrails on my truck are about chin level so getting the three sections on the 8' model to fold up requires a lot of muscle.
Standard or the Solid Fold 2.0? The 2.0 is a different design. My previous Extang Original Solid Fold with the 1st hinge design leaked a lot. The Original Solid Fold with the 2nd hinge design leaked hardly at all but the cover fell apart.
The 2.0 is a different design and is made of different materials.
You can fold it from the rear instead of the sides. I will be, as I did on the 2010 F150, be taking it off a lot. I take it off when I put the bikes in the bed, or other tall things. That's why I'm getting one of those because they are so easy to take off.
I want the water tightness and bed accessibility of my Extang Classic Platinum Snap on cover, but without the inconvenience of having to take the frame apart every time I need to fill the bed and roll the cover to the cab.
Thought about retracting hard covers but they all leak badly and even then, need drain tube to the bed drain holes, and the tube plug easily from dirt.
Every type of cover has negatives, but the fold up covers seem to offer everything but are not the best at everything.
