17k GVWR trailer?
If you are not looking at Diesel dually pickups then you are not looking at the right trucks.
Gas Trucks are great and the newer ones are incredible...but...my personal limit is 12k for a gas truck.
So, either reconsider the trailer you are looking at and go for a lighter fiver or step up to a Dually with a diesel.
Imho...I would stay away from any of the DPF only diesels. Just personal opinion. If you shop around you can get a new CTD 3500 Ram in the high $40's as long you don't have to have the fanciest do-dads.
