Own a 2012 f350 with prep package. Before I bought my toyhauler I had a cougar slit fifth that was really light. I had a curt 16 k slider from my max tow f150 and when I bought the 350 did the research and bought a Reese adapter .
Worked fine and saved money as I could use the curt in the 350.
But........ There was noticeably some slop and the adapter combined with the bar slide style of the curt was not going to
Work for me with the Voltage toyhauler and 26-2800 pin weight.
Sold the curt and adapter on kijiji for half value and bought the BW RVK 3300 companion and it is AWESOME.
Also gained 100 more pounds of payload getting rid of adapter and big curt slider that together weighed 250!!!
As others mentioned there are hitches that fit the puck system besides what Ford sells.
My friend who is a GM at Ford and sold me my last two trucks did not even know this when I bought my 350.
Do diligence and research like you are.
Good luck
