I personally looked hard at a 6.7 Ford. There are a few flaws with the current version that are fixed with the 2015 version. Namely, no decent exhaust brake and the turbochargers are known for being a bit on the frail side. They had some 1st year production issues (Passenger cylinder head dropping valves in some cases), but I haven't really heard of that outside of the 1st year run. I personally wish Ford would up their fuel filtration game as I think their stock fuel filtration is sub-par. Ram has 2 water/fuel separators, both drainable and both with 5 micron outer and 3 micron inner fuel filtration medias. This combined with the CP3's rep for reliability is probably why I seldom hear about fuel systems being replaced on a Cummins. I think that fuel filtration is the last real thing that Ford needs to build some more robustness into. The engine itself seems magnificent. I only wish Ford would put more effort into updating the frame and somehow increasing the serviceability reducing the need to the raise the cab for more of the mundane repairs. Also wish they would switch radiator vendors since they haven't gotten that right with the 6.4 and 6.7.
Why does a replacement cost so much?
Why hasn't the aftermarket stepped up with a reliable replacement?
This issue alone would make a 6.7 a non starter for me.
I personally know people who have replaced their radiators 3 times in 60,000 miles. Heck they change radiators more often then I change air or fuel filters.
