I agree with the comments about doing it right. I was remiss in checking the oil in my last truck, a 05 Dodge diesel until coming home from Texas last year, 1500 miles into the oil change. Wow, I was two quarts low. I filled her up and went on down the road. After another 6000 miles, the oil level was still fine -- hmm. Took it in for another oil change at the dealer. Checked it later in the garage the next day -- two quarts low.
I'm still too lazy to change it myself -- this truck will be at the Ford dealer, but I understand that the oil change people are at the low end of the greasy ladder.
