Go with gas either Gm 6.0, Ford 6.2, or Dodge 6.4, all are good. The Gm 6.0 has been around for some time now hence the positive comments. It has been proven to last a long time without any issues. I'm sure the other 2 gas jobs will prove themselves over time as well. It appears that u really don't car for the GM series trucks, if that be the case, look at the other 2. Either will be very reliable and should serve you for years to come. I like the old diesels as well, have pulled with them before. The problem is that the engine can last but the rest of the truck starts to deteriorate. Then you constantly putting money into it. Nothing wrong with no payments if you go this way. And to be fair there are some guys that have older trucks on this board and love them. Nothing wrong with that..it's all on how you spend you money. For me, I budget everything I can and have found that a newer gas truck will serve me better then the newer diesel or older trucks. Anyway lot to think about, but look at the newer gas jobs when your able. Yes you will spin higher rpms in the hills, but no emission issues or fuel/ water issues to worry about. Just my opinion.
