I'm in that same boat. And am skittish of buying something in its first 2 years of production. And in this case, while I love the potential, it's both the 7.3 engine, and the new high tech tranny.

Sounds like the 6.2 will still be available. The 7.3 will likely be very capable and get similar mileage to the current engines. I'm not a fan of the envelope that will be wrapped around these, though it's miles ahead of that Chevy.

Nice boost in power but, what will the MPG be? I am glad I pulled the trigger on a 2019 (rather than wait for the new platform) and got the tried and true 6.2. I am only towing 8000lbs. I think many were expecting more of a 'raising of the bar' by Ford.

It seems they aren't actually detuned, they just limit the RPM.

If you look at the dyno chart at 3900rpm you see its right on the money.

Really? About dang time they put that in their videos. I have been trying to tell people this for years and they don't believe me. I guess I will have to watch the video when I get time.
