Having owned a problematic 2004 6.0 Ford and spending thousands to try to make it reliable, I eventually had to get rid of it. Yes, you can spend a small fortune to try to minimize disasters but there are too many possibilities to cover...like a recently replaced turbo with 25000 miles on it failing and causing another $5000 in repairs...BTDT...
There is a reason they can be bought cheap...caveat emptor...
But it took another POS Ford 6.7 and two years of frustration to finally figure it out...at least GM and Ram have a warranty...
