I don't have any use for a 2wd truck, but if you don't think you'll find yourself needing 4wd, you should have no problems pulling a 6,000 lb travel trailer with a Ford Excursion.
It would be more fun to watch the tach and gas gauge race in opposite directions, though, especially if that V-10 Excursion also has 4.30 gears. I'm pretty sure they were offered with 3.73 or 4.30, but perhaps not in the SUV, only in the pickup. Either way, it should pull fine, but I wouldn't be surprised if the mileage was pretty bad.
