I hear a lot of bad press on the ecoboost. Does anyone here pull with one and what as your experience been with it. Would you buy it again? I just can't make up my mind on it.

I love mine!:)When I first got it, I had heard about the tendency to falter in damp conditions, so, after driving at a steady speed for several hours in the rain, I punched the accelerator and, sure enough, it faltered. I took it back to the dealer. They reflashed the computer and I haven't been able to get it to falter again. A friend has 50K miles on his, many of those pulling a loaded stock trailer. His has never skipped a beat.It pulls my trailer MUCH better than the 5.3L Chevy it replaced. I'm retiring in 2 weeks and can't wait to keep the road hot with it. I'm anxious to return to Colorado and I have complete confidence that it will pull those passes easily. Look up "Ike Gauntlet 2.0" on Youtube.

What bad press? The stalling issue mentioned above that happens in extremely limited circumstances, and that was easily cured with a change in the outlet tube of the CAC (at no cost to the owner), or the issue about coil packs that weren't actually bad but was instead a programming issue? Maybe you're thinking about one of the other manufacturers that are jumping on the "eco" bandwagon, now that Ford has hit a home run with those three little letters. Chevy even has a model called the Eco now, but its being recalled due to fires. Then there's the new EcoDiesel from Fiat/Ram that won't even be available until next month, so there's no real world experience there. Had my truck out west in September, pulled that trailer up over the Rockies to over 10,000 feet and had PLENTY of power left. It's smooth, quiet, dependable, great fuel mileage. I just wish Ford would make an EcoBoost model for the Super Duties, maybe a turbo'ed 5.0? The only bad thing I had happen was one of the two bottom panels fell off while in the Rockies. That was caused by a new oil change guy at a dealer not installing it correctly two days earlier. The Ford dealer in Durango put it back on for me, didn't even charge to do it. Great dealership there in Durango.

There was a lot of bad press in the beginning because of injector failures and a lack of replacement parts. I would think that they have those ironed out by now though.

Thank you all for your input so far, its refreshing to hear some great things about it.

I'm coming up on 3 years 30,000 miles and love this truck. She still makes me smile :)

Keep in mind this is with either a Max Tow or HD vehicle. Not all EB's will have the same capability, especially when it comes to payload.

Keep in mind this is with either a Max Tow or HD vehicle. Not all EB's will have the same capability, especially when it comes to payload.
Obviously the tow rating and payload ratings are different with each model but the Ecoboost engine makes the same hp/torque no matter what it's in.

I'm pointing out the obvious to you and me but not everyone realizes this. Some see an F150 EB badge towing a heavy trailer or FW and think a Platinum 4X4 dresser can do the same.

I know two people personally that bought high $$ dressers under pressure from the other half only to realize their limitations as being a usable truck. The bells and whistles come with a price, payload. I show them my stripped down Max Tow that cost half the $$ and they kick themselves in the head.
