It's been a while since I checked on my post. Update. Took the truck to an independent for a quote on replacing the fuel pump. Did a lot of tests and said the fuel pump was fine. All the symptoms were normal for a Ford so I guess my dealer in Hutchinson was trying to get in my pocket. Not going back there. I let the BBB complaint ride but they said I didn't have a case so here I set with a Ford that may or may not be junk. Maybe I'll look for another truck but it won't be a Ford and won't be from Hutchinson, Ks.
Thanks for all the posts.

Great news and thanks for the update.
I would suggest that you look at a 2013 or newer Ram/Cummins. Much different truck than previous generations and uses DEF which has virtually eliminated emissions issues and allows them to provide very good fuel economy. I owned 3 Fords before this truck and am very happy! Also I have never owned a vehicle that has generated so many conversations and questions at campgrounds so I think there's a lot of people thinking the same way.
In any case let us know what you decide.
