FORD NEW TSB VIBRATION, HOPPING

Hello, Not sure if this has been posted;

TSB 16-0087 MAY 25 2016

2011 to 2016, with 8ft box and factory hitch may exhibit a vibration or
hopping at 42-70 MPH OR 68-112KM.

Repair.. check on drivers side of the hitch to frame mount, should have
cage damper..if not install one under warranty.

Check my 2016 and no damper, I will have my dealer order one.

    Had that problem once. Though it was carrier bearing but after jacking up and putting in drive I found a broken belt that caused the rear end to hop and vibrate. Was on a BFG Commercial T/A.
  • The cage damper is mounted to the drivers side frame mount of the trailer hitch. It bolts to the bracket from the actual hitch to the frame, It uses predrilled holes
    A lot of manufactures use them on exhaust systems and frames. A 2006 dodge 1500 has one mounted on each side of the frame in line with the transfer case.
    My 2016 does not have the symptoms but I am getting the dealer to install one anyways.
  • Yeah.. what the heck is a 'cage damper' on the frame of a hitch?? And what kind of hitch are they talking about, receiver or gooseneck?

    The only things I can think of that would make any sense, regarding vibration, is either the driveshaft carrier bearing mounting bracket, or some mounting bracket for the exhaust...
  • Thanks for the info, I have this issue with my truck. I'll check this weekend if I can figure out what "cage damper" is. ;D
