Les...this is the "Fashion Statement Crowd" driven...
When Pickups and SUVs (even before they coined SUV) were for specialized folks
who used them as 'trucks'...they were the lowest priced vehicles out there...
When the masses (Fashion Statement Crowd) started the run (they did similar
to the likes of Peugeot and SAAB...who are almost nowhere to be found today).
The prices of Trucks and SUV's climbed and continue to climb...and
the OEM's loves them to this day...as they check off every option
box when ordering...
How many times do we read another topic of "...should I use the Tow/Haul
button when I'm towing?..." or "...should I leave it in OD when towing?..."
It is an AUTOMATIC...let it do it's job...but you have to tell
it that you are towing/hauling by pushing the Tow/Haul button....etc
Other things that the LAGS (Latest and Greatest Syndrome) Fashion Statement
Crowd drove...Granite Counter tops...now am seeing more and more maple tops
offered or bragged about...ditto anything else LAGS driven...
