Ford Powerstroke

Hello everyone
I am considering purchasing a 2014 F250 CC w/powerstroke 6.7l, anyone have any experience or knowledge about this engine or year?
I will be towing a fifth wheel (yet to be purchased) with a GVWR around 14K, dry wt about 11K.
Thanks for your time,
Gary

The OP is relatively new to this forum. Your reply to his inquiry emits a tone of being snarky and unwelcoming.

I'm sure the OP was not aware of the "search" engine on this site.

I hope we don't chase him away.

I need help just as much as anyone else does...simpler the better. I rely on the expertise of the many folks who have hands on experience relating to rv topics.

When I joined I was cautious of the questions I had for fear someone may think I was dumb.

I'm sure you yourself have helped others here.

  • I see you are new to the forum. Since the 6.7 introduction there have been many updates. Seems they are having a hard time getting it right.

There are two other engines out there with a far better track record. The injection pump has had issues and some have been told to pound sand if you have a water related pump problem. GM has the same pump but take care of their customers. Cummins has a much more dependable injection pump.

Don't get me wrong Ford makes a good truck it's just that their track record with their diesel engines since the 7.3 was replaced with the 6.0 has not been great.

There are two other Diesel choices out there, I would suggest you do some research and not get sucked in the the Blue Oval/ PowerStroke mirage.
  • Hate to be that guy, but did you even look at the first page of threads before you posted this question? There is a specific thread about the 6.7 about 9 threads down from this one.

There are a plethora of topics about diesel vs gas, Powerstroke vs Cummins vs Duramax, 3/4 vs 1 ton, newer diesels vs older diesels. There is literally more information in this very sub topic than you could ever want. You could have instant gratification by reading those threads as opposed to asking a very general question to start a new thread.
  • The engine has been updated for 2015, new turbo I believe among other minor changes. If I were buying new, I would get a 2015 or else be sure I'm getting a heck of a deal on a 2014.
