I knew 'just in time' has been standard industry practice. What I didn't know if the vendor was the sole source for the part. Did read an updated story on the Free Press website or CNBC that Meridian was already working with Ford to get the dies out of the fire damaged facility and to a plant in Ontario in an effort to resume production of the part there.
Even more mind boggling, Ford has already sold over 287,000 F Series trucks year to date, most of them the F150.
My plant is also "Lean" / Just in time. It sucks. Our stuff is NEVER just in time. It is always late. then the incompetent management run around screaming. Were gonna shut down GM, or Ford. Well. Order enough to keep the plant running. Seems simple to me.
