When you stand back and look at it.... With these HDs rated at 26-30K towing... The little bit of weight shavings that they did doesn't amount to a hill of beans.
As long as buyers blindly believe the 'King of the Hill' towing/cargo/payload/etc
capacities/ratings...the OEM's have no choice other than to use the lowest weight

Good for them and a good about face. Since GM fessed up and changed their lying ways, Ford had to follow suit.
Agreed. - mkirschNomad IIWe've defined what "lying" is, now define "truth."
I.e., what truck would you consider "truthful" to use as an advertising vehicle when making payload and towing claims? - ib516Explorer IIGood for them and a good about face. Since GM fessed up and changed their lying ways, Ford had to follow suit.

Way to go Ford!
It seems to be industry standard. My Pathfinder had a payload sticker showing ~1150 lbs, and it was a no options base model. The spec sheet showed that the base model curb weight was ~4500 lbs, which combined with a 6000 lbs GVWR should have given me 1500 lbs payload.
The payload sticker on my 2012 F150 was dead on... Never looked at spec sheets for that though. - FlashmanExplorer IIFord admits to cheating only after being outted by GM.

"Base curb weight"....anyone know what that is???
Legal department?
Ya think it has any options ?
It might have, subject to change without notice
Base curb weight should be with the same specification as base MSRP price vehicle plus fuel, no cargo or passengers. Then add and subtract the weight or weight savings of optional equipment. The math would look something like front axle 5000lbs + rear axle 6000lbs = GVWR 9900lbs. and make total sense, no doubt. :C - Sport45Explorer III'll bet not many options, if any. :)
That's why there's always an asterisk with the footnote saying "properly equipped" or some such verbiage. - BenKExplorer"Base curb weight"....anyone know what that is???
