Ford chassis cab is a straight frame. Pickup has the frame that curves up and over the back axle. Not quite the same thing just minus the bed. In diesel land, the Ford chassis cab comes with a de-tuned engine that gets better idle emissions. Pickups with beds still come out of the commercial division, and might be ordered through fleet managers. My employer just bought several work truck F-250s in supercabs.
Ford makes two different chassis cab styles. One uses the standard pickup frame, and the other uses straight frame rails with 34" spacing.
The straight frame is MUCH heavier duty, but cannot have a standard pickup box installed upon it. If the dealer is offering to install a bed, he's talking about the standard frame chassis cab.
I have the straight frame on my F450, and I had to get a custom made fiberglass bed in order to satisfy my wife's desire to have a "normal looking" truck.
