From Airstream to Zinger, I have read about issues with all brands. The same happens in the world of automotive. It comes down to the fact that we are human and make mistakes at one time or another. I have had the pleasure of purchasing 4 travel trailers in my lifetine so far:
1978 Glendette 290 by Glendale RV, Strathroy Ontario:
had defective roof vents that snapped off when tighten down and water would leak through emergency window and trunk door, simple fix with an aluminum gutter installed over each. Repaired by dealer.
1986 Corsair 32 by General Coach, Hensall, Ontario:
tub floor cracked because framing under it shifted, tub replaced and frame for it reinforced. Leak in roof by bathroom plumbing stack, needed a bead of dicor lap sealant. Repairs done by dealer
2008 Shamrock 233 Hybrid Travel Trailer, FR Millersburg Plant:
front and side tent beds leaked while towing, seals were cut short at factory allowing water in , dealer replaced seals .
2013 Solaire Eclipse 269BHDSK, FR Palomino Colon Michigan Plant:
small leak in skylight, needed bead of lap sealant, stove burner noisy, replaced by dealer. LED light in awning only lit up half way, LED tape light replaced by dealer.
The bottom line is do your homework, buy what best meets your needs and budget and buy from a reputable dealer.....ask for references and google them. Out of our four purchases thus far 3 out of the 4 dealers were awesome, the current one being the best to date and the 3rd one for the Shamrock slowest to deliver timely service and follow-up.
Where you buy is just as important as what you buy. As for FR, we have now bought two of their products and would consider a third when the time comes.....
Have fun in your search!
