- TommerWExplorerI think the truck you've found is just right, especially if it fits your needs and you are happy with it. As for the sarcasm and negative response/inputs; I bet there would be a lot more participation from others if there were less of it. Happy Truck camping!
- languiduckExplorerI think it's a great choice for hauling your pop top. It will be a night and day difference from your 1/2 ton. If you like it and suits your needs and budget.

Thanks for the comments and well said Grit dog, the TC is a "j" series pop top and it does weigh 1460 lbs, we got the truck for the long bed and to pull the 17'5" alumacraft behind it with the TC in it, I might have to do a bit of suspension mods.
You will love the D-Max. That style of tow mirror is prone to "not always extending or retracting". They are power extend/retract.
You can always upgrade to the 06+ style of tow mirror. - trail-explorerExplorer

It's really sad to see some people so serious about the " you need a Dooley to haul a sack of potatoes" mindset.
For the love of Pete, the guy has a pop up camper, even a picture in his sig of it sitting on his half ton and some of you are telling him his truck is under matched for the camper? Pinch yourself, wake up, come back to earth. The guy has a Dmax to haul a pop up. If anything it's overkill already!
Agreed. This forum has gotten worse in the last few months with people posting sarcastic remarks, and other such posts that do nothing other than clutter up a thread. - djgExplorerI have a 1500 sivlerado with a 1460lb camper northern lite on it, just upgraded the springs, shocks, brakes and tires, mine does the job, dot in Canada says its legal, insurance says it's legal gets 18mpg imp.gal not complaining
- SugarHillCTDExplorerLooks GREAT!
Considering what you want to carry and pull, it will do the job very well.
Nice find. - sharkmanExplorerThanks for the comments and well said Grit dog, the TC is a "j" series pop top and it does weigh 1460 lbs, we got the truck for the long bed and to pull the 17'5" alumacraft behind it with the TC in it, I might have to do a bit of suspension mods.

Again, nice truck, you will love it.
(And for the naysayers, the buyer of my AF 860 pulled up in the same truck, not technically the same exact truck for the nit pickers here.......And he drove away with it happily and promptly took it across the Denali Hwy. guess what? It didn't implode, explode, crash or otherwise do harm to anyone or anything. Yes it was overloaded, about the same as on my truck.) - scottzExplorer

I agree with twodownzero, get a dully one ton no mater what you do to that truck you will still be over its gvw if you have an accident you can still be held libel for the damage that is they don't void your insurance for being over the manufacture load limits.
So you think moving his camper from his 1/2ton to this 3/4ton is going to be problematic? Ok, if you say so! :h - KD4UPLExplorer

I think you should pass and get a 1 ton truck. A truck with 8800 lbs of GVWR that already weighs over 7,000 lbs empty is not the ideal for carrying a TC.
GVWR on that truck is 9,200.
For an 8' camper it looks like a great truck. If you ever plan to upgrade to a heavier camper I'd look for a 3500 SRW or dually.
I don't know whose 8' camper you're hauling but mine is almost 3,000 lbs.
Yours must have a giant helium balloon attached to it or something.
I'm just going by what the OP said. He stated that his camper weighed 1460 pounds. I don't know if he has a helium balloon or not.
