C'mon. Everyone knows you HAVE to have a dually to do any truck camping. Preferably, an F550. :S:B
Let me guess- you ignore axle ratings?
Sometimes, sarcasm travels at a high rate of speed. Such appears to have been the case here. - twodownzeroExplorer

I think you should pass and get a 1 ton truck. A truck with 8800 lbs of GVWR that already weighs over 7,000 lbs empty is not the ideal for carrying a TC.
GVWR on that truck is 9,200.
For an 8' camper it looks like a great truck. If you ever plan to upgrade to a heavier camper I'd look for a 3500 SRW or dually.
I don't know whose 8' camper you're hauling but mine is almost 3,000 lbs.
Yours must have a giant helium balloon attached to it or something. - KD4UPLExplorer

For the Jayco pop top?
Yep, 1460 lbs, we still have it on the silverado 1/2 ton and are camping right now, Bedlam, will check the suspension when we get home. - restlesswaysExplorer IIITruck looks to be in good shape. How many miles? Personally, I wouldn't own a Duramax out of warranty. The only diesels I trust out of warranty are pre-common rail Cummins. How heavy is the camper? I've only used duallies to haul campers.

- joe123ExplorerI agree with twodownzero, get a dully one ton no mater what you do to that truck you will still be over its gvw if you have an accident you can still be held libel for the damage that is they don't void your insurance for being over the manufacture load limits.
