This thread has me seriously thinking about laying a 1/4 inch sheet of plywood on top of the floor at my sink area. It would be cut to fit so the slide will not hit it when retracted, and not so annoying we'll be tripping over it. I'd cover it with some carpet material to make it look like a throw rug, or even buy a throw rug to staple to it. It would look like a throw rug in front of the sink and this would give a little more support at that one spot and maybe keep further breakdown of the Styrofoam from happening, as body weight would be distributed over a larger area that way.
The more I think about this, the more I think I may do it. It's simple and would provide a little extra support without having to add, alter, tear up, or fix anything.
Maybe the OP could do something similar and not have to tear up his floor.
I picked it up last night. I am still under the impression water has intruded. The area has gotten softer since last season and if you smell the floor in this area it has a mildew smell vs. other areas on the floor that are rock solid. It still could be the floor breaking down. Dealer did not want to cut tile under the slide carpet fearing that it might peel with repeated use. I honestly don't think they wanted to mess with it as they had it 2 1/2 weeks and didn't do much other than run water in the kitchen sink to confirm no water was leaking at the pipes or drain. Looked underneath the belly as I had done and also confirmed no wetness. If it weren't for the musty smell when I get down and smell this part of the floor I would say it was just the floor going bad but my gut is telling me otherwise or I should say nose.
I may go through the season at this point and address it at the end of the season when someone would have plenty of time to fix the area. This is not my skill set so I won't be cutting into the vinyl and replacing luan/insulation and reinstalling.
