Do the drill depth slowly. This will give you an opportunity to see if there is wetness or otherwise (ie. continuous load pressure weakening the foam if it is). My plan was to remove the under-belly. It's a hard rigid material held with screws that I assume are secured directly to the steel framing. Or maybe they are secured to the wood joists.
My only apprehension with doing it this way is I'm thinking if there is fiberglass batt insulation, it may fall out of the bays unless they secured them properly when it was built.
