The fire escape may be the only way past that. I think we will devise a way of locking it in the down position. We rarely travel with it in the flipped up position anyway. Our supper hitch extends past it in the down position enough to haul our bicycles and get a full swing open on the door. Love it!
On my addition onto my NL if the step is folded up my rear door still opens. So there is no way someone could lock me in with it. In fact some of the times when I want into the back and I have the Super Truss on I'll just open the door and climb up without putting the step down. There are a lot of places to put my feet. Some day you well probably hear me say that I broke my b*tt climbing in or out doing this. Probably not a good idea.
