Those facts have been in constant denial by TC owners who use those heaters in their units.
Like everything in life, it should be analyzed.
O2 sensors on some heaters sounds good, but would you bet your life on single sensor reliability?
Again some owners do. I would at least install independent CO and O2 alarms beside those on heaters.
Than it is different story to stay in such camper on short vacations, or trip, different to live in it whole winter.
Don't you think breathing air wit constantly low oxygen level will leave long-term effects?
We spend most of last winter in our TC in California where we did not experience freezing, but even single electric heater was not too comfortable till I bought 3 of Handy Heaters and install them in the corners. Still condensation was the issue.
So I don't think the above idea will work without electric heating.
