Hi,
Do not allow her to use an unvented combustion heater.
There are through the wall units that are safe, and do not require power.
It would be much easier if she had at least some shore power to keep the battery bank charged and to reduce propane use.
I have boodocked at -27 c (-16 f) in blizzard conditions, for ten days. I did run a generator a minimum of 4 hours per day. I did have a working furnace. I used a small inverter to power a heating pad for the bed and to recharge my laptop and cell phone.
