Work out a way to get an actual furnace installed. Worst case claim a buddy has one and then go down and buy a new one and sell it to her for what you think she can afford.

PS: How is she funding this "adulting it" adventure?
- Campsite can be $500-700/month
- Propane $100-200/month
- Gym $200/month
- Food $200/month
- Etc....

If she can afford all this per month, have her wait a couple months and upgrade to something functional for $2-3000.
