I recommended the Wave heater with the assumption she would have an RV specialist install it properly and walk her through the do's and dont's.She should not try to install it herself.At that time that RV specialist would run a LP propane test for leaks anywhere in her system.That should be done anyway even if not installing a heater.
Short story...Had the CO alarm go off in the house and I was using the Wave 8 heater at the time so I called my son who is on the local fire department and he brought there CO detector they use to find the cause of CO problems...Immediately they went to the Wave 8 heater..Not the problem,,They then went to the "Vented" waterless hot eater heater..Bingo..The "Vented" heater was the problem,not the Wave heater..
People need to understand these vented heaters/refers etc get clogged by things like birds nest..Bee hives..sticks..leaves etc etc making them more dangerous then any other appliance...There is know free lunch in owning a RV and safety unless you are completely aware of all the issues that can and do pop up.
If anyone can point to a Wave heater causing any harm to the occupants of any home or RV..I will quit using the three I have but that is just not going to happen because they are safe if used properly...
I think the crux is "completely aware of all the issues that can and do pop up" and "safe if used properly".
Many things are safe if used properly. Yet, one simple error can change it from safe to deadly. Providing warnings and being more conservative in advice to a young person who may not be experienced enough to know herself is being safe.
