Yes, DC power is required to run fridge control board although it is a small draw on your batteries by comparison. It is okay to leave your rig plugged in when at home just be sure to check battery water levels monthly since some single stage converters have a tendency to boil batteries dry over a period if time. Check your converter model to determine it's charging characteristics.
A completely charged battery could run a fridge using propane for several days alone, but lights, water pump, and other items dependent on DC power will also drain battery. Adding a second battery, or some recharging capabilities, whether solar or generator, will restore your DC power reserves indefinitely if properly configured.
