Yeah, sofa works. I would think this is completely unsafe, but people used to drive a bit slower in the sixties. I can only imagine backing down the boat ramp,,what a crowd you would have! Interesting setup. Kinda makes you wonder if in times past they build stronger vehicles, or ignored the door weight stickers. It is also possible they had better engineers and fewer attorneys. It looks like it would be pretty comfortable. I would be nervous with the tires though. Wayne

It's interesting to say the least. Must have done magic to keep the soft rear end from sagging.
Oh and very, very few T-birds had pass side mirrors. Those that had them were added by the dealer and they don't work worth a dang.
BTW, what TBird site do you go to? I belong to the VTCI and have had a 64 for 36 years. Always looking for more Thunderbird action!

Here's mine, think a TC would add anything to it?

That era was a unibody. The Caddy would be more believable, as the birds rode like jello empty. You guys are such naysayers,,, dont you know if its on the net, it has to be real!!???

Not sure what year that Thunderchicken is, but if it's a full frame car, it's probably doable. The tires being the weak point, as Wayne said.

I can easily find many pictures of the '61-'63 Tbirds on the web that not only don't have a pax side-view mirror, but have no driver side-view mirror either. But, the location of the driver side mirror (when they have one) WAS right behind the A-pillar, so it could just be hidden on this car.

In years past, I had several different TCs with mirrors mounted on them. As for mirrors on the Tbird, it would need to be answered by the Tbird fans. I do agree that most cars during that area did not have mirrors on the passenger side.

I know that but I don't even see a little of the driver's side mirror...unless it's way back on the door and the A pillar is blocking it.
