It seems that frontal area is frontal area. For a noticeable improvement in fuel economy, reducing frontal area will help whereas the shape of that area does not. People who tow molded-fiberglass 'egg' trailers such as Scamp (factory direct from MN), Casita (TX), Lil Snoozy (SC), Escape (of British Columbia), Oliver (TN), and Eggcamper (MI) typically get 14 to 17 mpg. The reason is, they are shorter, more narrow, and have rounded edges all around for a more aerodynamic, lower profile unit. Other trailers will yield 10-11 mpg typically, regardless of the front end's shape.
