I agree with bcbigfoot, have had several 2nd and 3rd gen Rams, 1/2 and 3/4 ton variety.
4 of them were or are in the 125k to 160k mile range when I sold them, and save for the steering box in the 07, I've done zero steering or suspension work to any of them and nothing broke, they all drove straight and didn't have "problem" front suspension or steering components. Shocks, brakes and 1 steering box (added a steering box brace to it later as well) isn't bad over 6 trucks and about 700,000 miles.
I take care of my stuff, but don't baby it. To rack up this kind of miles, it's alot of commuting and road trips, but there are plenty of towing, hauling, off road, forest roads, winter roads, Alaska roads etc mixed in.
Does a 150k mile truck drive as tight as a new one? Nope.
Does it mean it's at the end of it's service life or unsafe? Probably not either.
Part of it is mechanics and tire shops upselling repairs, part of it is, now, the internet effect, part of it is people's expectations and part of it is necessary repairs.
