Tire wear is complex. I had been running a bit under inflated and had outer wear on the rear tires from that.
I rotated and that outer wear became serious on just the inner edge of those tires when they became the front tires.
So you had the tires flipped on the rims then. Outside went to inside?
My question was related to the front tires and if they were getting chewed up. Direction of rotation also matters. If the tires are feathering or cupping the treads (like your rears presumably were), if you moved them to the front and they were rotating the same direction, they could likely just keep getting worse.
A apologize for confusing the issues, it's hard to all put into words, but there are several things that can affect tire wear and worn out steering components is only one of them.
My point to the OP (and everyone) was get a second opinion, as I've seen ALOT of work done that didn't need to be done.
