Fuel gauge issue
I recently had a new fuel pump assembly installed as my old Dodge left we walking. Now when full, the tank reads almost full, but quickly drops to 7/8, and I assume empty will mean it still has an 1/8 of a tank.
The shop that did the repair is 500 miles away so going back to them is not going to happen. It is a chain/franchise place (Canadian Tire) so I *might* be able to get a local shop of the same brand to help, but haven't looked into that.
Anyway, is there a way (like with a scan tool) to reset the gauge to read full when full and empty when empty?
ON EDIT:
I forgot to mention that after leaving the repair facility and getting up to highway speed, I heard a loud metal scraping sound. Immediately pulled over a saw a fuel tank heat shield had let go - likely wasn't attached properly and it was rubbing the drive shaft. So, for the second time in as many days I was on my back under the truck in the dirt on the side of the freeway. A bungee cord is holding that on for now.
Why didn't I just take it back? Because I was 500 miles from home at 3pm and had to work the next day at 6am which means up at 0430. So 2 hrs sleep for me after getting things unhitched and unpacked.
