For the city water connection, I simply built a heated covered water hose and heated the park spigot to keep it from freezing up, but for off grid, I put two ball valves and a blow connection in the line so that one simply had to close the valve after the blow out connection and pin the spring mechanism open on the outside to blow the water out.
You must be way out in Eastern Oregon if regular freeze issues are a must, unless you're working the Intel project and staying over at the Columbia River RV Park in Portland.
