Can't quite wrap my head around the idea of refusing a dually
Yet, you see it all the time. "I want the big heavy camper but I don't want a dually because I've heard this rumor and that legend and the other myth about dually trucks and how hard they are to drive and how they won't fit through drive-throughs and you can't park them and they give you cancer and they eat babies and blah blah blah."
It's all a word that starts with a B but is not allowed on this site. Yes, BULLPUCKEY.
When you finally convince someone, or they convince themselves, on a dually, it's worse than listening to an ex-smoker.
What we want here is a minimal camper (assuming we go with the original path rather than the one mentioned about pulling a multi-purpose station which I will look further into). If a SRW truck can handle the payload, do you really need to go dually? I agree if the payload is an issue, then dually is the answer.
We found a camper that has the dry weight of 1837lb and theoretical wet weight of around 2600lb. Dodge Ram 3500HD 8ft bed has max payload of 4400lb but if we buy a loaded one, it will probably bring it down to 4000lb. I think weight wise, there is no issue here... Please do prove me wrong if that is the case though, I'd rather find that out now and get a dually... :)
