Ok, after a lengthy discussion with my DW, here's what we have so far. She still likes the idea of a comfy TT with all amenities plus a simple TC that can serve our needs few days at a time. But pulling a multi-purpose trailer behind a bigger TC on a dually is not out - need more time to look into this.
Assuming this is a TC+TT scenario, some of the 'must' are:
- a dining table big enough for us to work on with two laptops and other stuff on it.
- a bath that has a grey and black tank. She does NOT like potties. :) Also, the grey tank needs to be at least 20g for our needs.
- we will sleep below freezing at times so the holding tanks needs to be in a heated area.
- propane is fine for heating, cooking and may be the fridge although I may go compressed fridge here.
- solar panels.
I also realized that it is nearly impossible to find a TC that fits in a 6.5ft bed with room to spare between the cab and the bed. (but I may not need this if that fuel cap thingy that was mentioned in this thread allows for pumping some fuel out). So we will go with a 8ft bed truck. With the wet weight of 2500lb, I will have about 1600lb leftover payload capacity for the rest of the stuff. Our combined body mass is 260lb. The trailer will weigh 7k to 8k fully loaded. Even with extra stuff in bed, I think this will work.
Alternatively, we will also look at:
- Dually with bigger TC pulling a multi-purpose trailer.
- Dually with small TC but with a single slider, pulling a 8-10k TT.
- A SRW 6.5ft bed truck with light TC and extended gas tank with some device to withdraw fuel from the tank. this will pull 7-8k TT.
