The DRW isn't really wider than the camper. I'm sure the church probably has room at the end/corner of the lot. I find the biggest limiting factor parking the length, overhang, and height.
With camper off, it's a different story with it on. In your case, that doesn't seem to apply.
My DW and I had a lengthy discussion on a dually vs SRW as well. I did point out that the dually is no wider than the camper itself and even the mirrors.
About the church - it's a very small one. We have to go the back road, the gate is really small and we need to do 90 degree turn on a narrow one way street. We are very attached to the small group of people there, so we are not likely to change to other churches.
We won't be carrying the camper to the church. She doesn't like the idea of carrying our home to the church even if it fits... The answer from her was a simple NO and nothing after that. lol.
O.K., Hmmm.
Money is not being a consideration and you are keeping your home/base residence and planning on being on the road for 5 months. Thus leaving 7 months at home.
So do I understand that you wish to still return to your home base every weekend to go to the church of your choice? Or only during the 7 months you are at your home base?
Either way, why not have a second car as you have shared money is not a situation and drive that vehicle to the mall, drive up windows and church? For me, parking my truck, a dually, is second nature as I grew up with trucks of all types and sizes. But I am still able to park and walk into the mall from farther parking spots or at the curb instead of the parking lot of an In-n-Out Burger spot (generally the only parking lots I find full most of it's open hours). So you are wanting to go to places to enjoy hiking, but not stretch your legs for the comfort and safety of a possible larger car? Or invest in a second vehicle to use at home, when home base? Also, you would not be full timing when going on a trip last a few months or 5 months.
Thanks for narrowing your choices and giving us a better idea of what you are looking for. It seems like the direction you are going, you are not going to be happy with pop-up-campers as you are not going to be able to get the larger tanks for Black and Grey, propane, bathroom size and carry variety of personal items for needs and recreation.
So you are definitely not going to want, at least the DW, a short bed camper, either.
But then again, you are thinking a travel trailer too, but so far you still wish to have these amenities in truck camper too?
Again, what you are planning is not full-timing. Sorry.
O.K., it is the winter season and having something to watch is entertaining, even with the thread going in circles.
