I think gas is around $2.79 here in Bismarck, ND now... just went up. Ironically, one TV station evening news had a short commentary review on how low gasoline cost had become (reflecting low crude oil prices) just as another TV channel was scooping them by announcing a $.50 price increase blamed on a mid-west refinery failure.
At long last, #2 diesel is now less at $2.49, finally making our F-250 the TT tow vehicle of choice. Earlier in the season, diesel fuel was so high priced, our thirsty gas V-10 Excursion was ahead of the game.
As always, non-towing is best accomplished with the hybrid Prius cheater. Astounding fuel economy and a far more comfortable ride. Course in an accident with any truck, the pop can and it's smug occupants are the losers, but can't have it all I guess.
Probably the best deal associated with low gas prices is, that since crude prices went way down, ND is scrambling to cut spending... just in time. State politicians were starting to combust on all the newfound tax wealth and it looked like they again wouldn't catch on to the customary bust (as in every boom/bust cycle) until it was too late (also happened during an earlier seismic mapping surge). In the 1980's, permanent residents were left holding the tax bag to pay for all the improvements in that last boom. Like my buddy said, now we were getting "fracked" with an escalating cost-of-living until the bottom fortunately fell out of crude prices with nearly perfect timing.
Wish my vehicles burned straight crude. No middle man.
