Crude closed at $38.24 today (Mon, Aug 24). Down over $2 from Fri's close. Nationwide, gas prices dropped .08 from a week ago (2.72 to 2.64)
IMO, gas prices (for various reasons already mentioned) are artificially high in relation to crude oil prices. Once all this refinery BS stabilizes I think the prognosis for sub $2 gas looks pretty good in the next month or so. I think the Gulf Coast and southeastern states will see sub $2 gas much sooner than the rest of the country.
