Guy down the road from me (not a farmer) just bought a compact tractor that is T4. He's having nothing but issues with regen on it and fuel usage is high as well. The T4 engines in small tractors don't use DEF but use a selective catalyist canister and EGR. The canister requires raw diesel to be injected into it at specific intervals to 'burn'; the soot that collects from the exhaust and while it's 'regenerating' you cannot use the tractor, plus it gets hot. All phooey to me.
