The shift towards gas engines over diesel began with the 6.0L and 6.4L diesel fiasco. Ford sold a ton of these engines to fleets and the unreliability and huge repair bills turned fleet managers off of diesel. In my area, there are a lot of Ford V-10's and Ram/Cummins cab and chassis in applications that were previously pretty much dominated by Ford diesels.
The DPF and emissions are killing the diesels in markets that don't do a lot of highway miles. In my area a lot of the UPS trucks were cummins powered trucks and most if not all of them are now gas.
In my area the cab and chassis trucks are by far dominated by Ford F450 and F550 Power Strokes. With the release of the F600 I suspect that dominance will only strengthen.
As for the Ram cab and chassis trucks you wont find any with the 6.4 Hemi simply because its not enough engine for the way these trucks are used.
