We have a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 with 5.7L (corrected to 6.0L) engine and six speed transmission. It struggles to pull my 7500 lbs. It can't stay in cruse control on anything but an absolute flat highway. I get 9+ mpg whether towing or around town. The only time the mileage is decent is when on the highway which I never am.
If I had to do it again I'd buy a pickup truck and put a back on it.
