Got bit again. Both times the day after fueling up at a Sunoco station. This time the thieves made two $800+ purchases at two different Home Depots and a couple of smaller purchases at 7-11. Cancelled...

I use my MasterCard for fuel and many other purchases. My teenage kids use it for internet orders. My number was stolen yesterday, and I had to cancel the cards and request new ones. Exact same thing happened 4 months ago, and this also happened twice in 2014. Major hassle. I have no idea if it was skimmers or just the fact that my card gets used for various internet purchases. What I do know is that I've been trying to minimize what I have set up on auto-pay on the card, because it just becomes more work for me when this occurs. I have 3 cell phones set up on auto-pay on that MasterCard, as well as several other things on auto-pay, and I am considering just going back to mailing checks, because it is easier and less frustrating.
If you are having this much trouble, try getting a prepaid card to use for online and gas purchases, and keep getting your other stuff billed to a regular card.
Or... it could be that one of your automatic pay charges has an employee selling information.
